1. Who we are and what this is

CounselAtlas operates the website at getcounselatlas.com. The site is a directory of artificial intelligence products that are sold or offered to law firms, together with a record of facts those vendors publish about their own products.

By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

2. What the service provides

The site publishes observations about vendor products. Each observation records what a vendor published, the date we checked it, and a link to the vendor's own page so that you can read the original material yourself.

Records describe vendor-published facts, which include: the task a product addresses, the firm sizes the vendor addresses, the price path the vendor publishes or withholds, the connections the vendor names, any data-location claim the vendor makes, and the vendor's own wording about confidentiality and model training.

Records are dated observations, not continuous monitoring. A fact that was accurate on the date we recorded it may have changed since.

3. What the service does not provide

This is the most important section of these terms. Please read it carefully.

• We do not provide legal advice, and nothing on the site is legal advice.
• We do not provide ethics advice or an ethics opinion, and nothing on the site should be read as one.
• We do not certify, approve, endorse, or verify compliance with any rule of professional conduct, any bar association requirement, any state or federal regulation, or any data protection law.
• We do not determine whether a particular product is appropriate for your firm, your clients, your matters, or your jurisdiction.
• We do not assess whether a vendor's published statement is accurate, complete, enforceable, or sufficient for your obligations.
• We do not provide a rating, score, ranking, or recommendation of any product.

4. Your responsibility

Choosing and using a technology product in a law practice engages professional obligations that are yours, not ours. Those obligations vary by jurisdiction and by the rules that apply to you.

Before you rely on any product described on this site, you are responsible for your own diligence. That includes reading the vendor's current terms yourself, confirming the vendor's current product behaviour with the vendor, and verifying your own obligations with your state bar association and your professional liability insurer.

Nothing on this site is a substitute for that diligence. You should not treat a record on this site as a conclusion that a product is safe, compliant, or appropriate for any particular use.

5. Accuracy, dating, and no warranty

We take care in recording what vendors publish, and every record carries the date it was checked. Even so, vendor material changes without notice, and we cannot guarantee that any record reflects a vendor's current position at the moment you read it.

The site is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

You should confirm any fact that matters to your decision against the vendor's own current published material before you rely on it.

6. What “Not stated” means

Where a record says Not stated, it means that we did not locate a qualifying statement in the source we checked on the date we recorded it.

Not stated is not an allegation. It is not a claim that a vendor does something, and it is not a claim that a vendor fails to do something. It records the absence of a published statement in the material we examined, and nothing more.

You should not read Not stated as a warning, a criticism, or a conclusion about any vendor's practices.

7. No endorsement

Inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement of a product, a vendor, or a vendor's practices. Exclusion is not a criticism.

We do not publish user reviews, testimonials, star ratings, or scores. We do not declare a best product. Where we describe a product's scope, we are recording the vendor's own description of that scope.

8. Sponsorship and paid placement

The site may accept payment for sponsored placement. Where a placement is paid, it is labelled as sponsored and the link carries a sponsored relationship attribute.

Payment cannot change a verification state, a recorded fact, a confidentiality statement, a training statement, or the order in which checked records appear inside a filtered result. Sponsorship buys visibility, and it buys nothing else.

9. Links to other sites

The site links to vendor websites and to other third-party material. Those links exist so that you can verify a record at its source.

We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content, their availability, their terms, or their privacy practices. Following a link takes you to a site governed by that site's own terms.

10. Submissions

You may submit a product for review through the submission form. A submission is a lead for our review. It is not published automatically, and submitting it does not guarantee that we will publish a record.

By submitting, you confirm that the information you send is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and you grant us permission to verify the information and to publish a record based on our own checking. Submitting a product does not create any obligation for us to publish, and it does not create a partnership or agency relationship.

Please do not send confidential information, client information, or anything you are not permitted to share.

11. Intellectual property

Vendor names, product names, logos, and trademarks referenced on the site belong to their respective owners. Their use here is for identification and factual reference.

The site's own text, structure, records, and compilation are our property. You may read, quote, and link to the site for your own professional purposes. You may not republish the records in bulk, resell them, or present them as your own without our written permission.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of the site or your reliance on any record.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the last-updated date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
