About CounselAtlas

Who runs this directory, why it exists, and the rules the editorial desk works to.

What this site is

CounselAtlas is a directory of artificial intelligence products sold to small law firms and solo attorneys. It records what each vendor publishes about its own product, dates every observation, and links to the vendor's own page so a reader can check the source.

The site exists because choosing a tool is now a normal part of running a small practice, and because the facts a firm needs are scattered across pricing pages, security pages, trust centres, and terms of service. We collect those facts in one place and keep the source attached.

Who runs it

CounselAtlas is run by its editorial desk. The desk is responsible for what is published, for the verification standard, and for correcting anything that is wrong.

We are not a law firm, we do not practise law, and we do not sell legal or compliance services. We do not provide legal advice, ethics advice, or a compliance opinion, and nothing on the site should be read as any of those things. Our role is narrower: we record what vendors publish, and we show our sources.

How the directory is built

A product enters the directory when we can find its official vendor page and its published material. We then record a fixed set of fields, each with the date we checked it and a link to the page it came from.

The fields are the task the product addresses, the firm sizes the vendor addresses, the price path the vendor publishes or withholds, the connections the vendor names, any data-location claim the vendor makes, and the vendor's own wording about confidentiality and model training.

Where a vendor publishes nothing on a point, the record says Not stated. That is a record of absence in the source we checked. It is not an allegation about the vendor.

What we do not do

How we make money

The directory is free to read, and a standard record costs a vendor nothing. Vendors may pay for a labelled featured placement or a practice-area sponsorship. Both are one-time payments for permanent placement, and both are clearly marked as paid.

Payment cannot change a lifecycle status, a data-statement coverage label, a recorded fact, a confidentiality statement, a training statement, or the order in which records appear. The full terms are on the advertise page.

Corrections

If a record is wrong, we want to fix it. Vendors, readers, and anyone else can report an error, and we describe how that works on the corrections page.
